Free Summer Art Camp
Join art teacher and gardener Winsome Bolt in the Miami Beach Botanical Garden for this free annual art camp for kindergarten and grade school students ages 6 and up. Children will work with a variety of mediums to discover their favorite way to express themselves, approaching learning with creativity and inventiveness. Camp-goers will use the Garden as their canvas: we take inspiration from the surroundings by either recreating what we see in front of us, or using natural materials such as seeds, rocks and leaves in our art. Children will develop tactile learning skills and social skills as they use their right brain to interpret their surroundings. Please bring a small snack for class. Call 305.673.7256 for more information or visit the Garden's website.

Thursdays, June 19 through August 7
9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Photography Exhibit: La Femme... en Noir et Blanc
This art show by Miami local Henry Perez is a photo study of and about women, capturing their inner and outer beauty in familiar and sometimes peculiar surroundings and circumstances.

The photos are all shot in digital black and white, and have not been doctored or Photoshopped in any way, as a way of preserving their natural, raw state. In the exhibit, each subject or group of subjects is represented by a total of four different images. Most of the subjects have been instrumental in contributing to the surroundings and/or the style of their shoot, as the artist wanted them to feel comfortable and at ease, while he captured the simple joy of being a woman.

Perez states, "I started working on this series about one year ago and have compiled a fairly large amount of images," all of which will be projected onto a large screen during the opening night reception on Friday, July 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. with several 16x24 printed images on display for the duration of the exhibit. All images, as well as a coffee table book, will be available for purchase. Visit Henry Perez's website for more info.
